# 8/21/2025 - low clouds -> elected to do mainly ground reference maneuvers - introduction to east practice area - discussed both low towers, visual reference points that are useful for navigation in the area, and references that can be utilized when making position reports - left downwind departure at or below 800 feet from runway 25 - remember that this is something you want your students to be aware of, as well as comfortable declining - Turns around a point - you really want to work on explanation of why modifications in bank angle are required - an important concept is that the wind is not "pushing" us in the maneuver, the airplane is moving through the air and the air happens to be moving across the ground - ![[Pasted image 20250821110434.png]] - it can be super helpful to pick additional points that are surrounding your central point to make sure you are crossing over them and maintaining a constant radius around your reference point - bringing in the circle a little bit closer will give you a good indication of required changes a little bit sooner - [ ] definitely practice this in the ground trainer - S Turns - if you are delayed on the entry into the first turn, don't delay on the second one, just go ahead and try to make the second one as normal as possible - I would avoid using a road that has a curve in it - ![[Pasted image 20250821111338.png]] - Eights on Pylons - ![[Pasted image 20250821112605.png]] - continue to review weather information, especially related to thunderstorms
