- link to previous oral notes: [[Nickolas Carvajal Instrument End of Course Oral]] # Unsatisfactory - navlog - alternate planning - approach procedures - incomplete: arrival and departure procedures --- # Review of Navlog (==***Unsat***==) - assigned KORL KAGS $\rightarrow$ route selected: $TOLLZ2 \space TOLLZ \space WORMS \space GUANO \space MMKAY$ - do not plan your navlog through restricted airspace (especially if active) or any other special use airspace that could be hazardous - utilize victor airways for the route - distance between fixes was far too long for the route ## Alternate Planning (==***Unsat***==) - asked about alternate planning requirements - you are legally required to plan for alternates for ***every IFR flight*** $\rightarrow$ [FAR 91.103(a)](https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-14/part-91/section-91.103#p-91.103(a)) - stated that ALTERNATE MINIMUMS have to be published to use as an alternate but then corrected to say that there are standard non-precision and precision alternate minimums - then asked whether or not you could use $KEMP$ as an alternate airport and stated that you could only use it if could descend from MEA to landing under basic VFR # Approach Procedures (==***Unsat***==) ## KEMP VOR-A ![[KEMP VOR A.PDF]] - stated would time for two minutes outbound from VOR - good job ## EMP RNAV 1 - asked when you can descend in the TAA - stated when within 10 degrees of the course guidance and and 10 miles of IMETY - I asked which course guidance and looked it up then stated that you would have to wait to cross IMETY before starting descent - the whole point of the TAA is so that ATC does not have to clear you to certain altitudes ## 1A5 RNAV A - good job talking about which direction to circle # Navigation Systems ## VORs - [ ] review [[VHF Omnirange (VOR)]] ## DME - [ ] review [[Distance Measuring Equipment (DME)]] ## GPS - good job with general GPS information - RAIM - good job - WAAS - good job
