### Towplane power loss during takeoff
- Tow pilot should maneuver to the left side of the runway
- Glider pilot should pull release, use wheel brake as necessary, and maneuver to the right side of the runway,
### Towplane power loss at altitude
- Can be recognized by [[Visual Signals]] to release from towplane, towplane deceleration and [[Slack Line]] developing, visual observation of towplane malfunction/emergency, etc
- Pull release, maneuver to avoid towplane, and follow appropriate [[Towline Break]] procedure for the present circumstances
- Continue to observe towplane; this pilot is also dealing with an emergency, and can't glide as well as we can!
