![[GFH skid.png]]
A skid occurs when the aircraft's longitudinal axis is misaligned with the relative wind to the inside of a turn. This could be the result of a pilot overcompensating for [[Adverse Yaw]], failing to relax rudder pressure after a turn is established, or inadvertently attempting to increase rate of turn without increasing bank.
During a skid, the pilot will feel "pulled" towards the outside of the turn, much like turning in a car. In a skid, the angle of bank is too low for the current rate of turn.
