The rate of turn, in degrees per second, is given by the formula: $ RoT = \frac{1091\tan(Φ)}{v} $ where $v$ is the true airspeed of the aircraft in knots, and $Φ$ is the bank angle in degrees. To improve turning performance and increase rate of turn, the pilot needs to increase bank angle, and/or decrease speed. For additional information, see *Rate of Turn* (pgs. 5-38 to 5-39) in the *Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge*.
